Location Filsdorf is an idyllic village located in the municipality of Dalheim, in the southeast of the country. The village is especially known for its Roman ancestry. The Gallo-Roman colony "Vicus Ricciacus" near present-day Dalheim was situated on the important communication route connecting the Mediterranean to the Rhine and included several temples and baths. The highlight of archaeological achievements was the discovery in 1985 of a theater with a capacity of 3,500 to 4,000 spectators. The Roman character of the site is today recalled by an obelisk topped with a Roman eagle on the plateau overlooking the village. The "Ricciacus Frënn" association also organizes guided tours of the Gallo-Roman theater and the vicus on summer weekends. In Dalheim, there are a few restaurants and small shops. The "La Cerisaie" home of the Kräizbierg Foundation is located at the entrance of the village, near the school grounds, where people with physical disabilities can find supervised accommodation. The "Charly Gaul" bike path (PC11) extends 14 km from Fentange to Ellange and passes through Roeser, Weiler-la-Tour, and Filsdorf. Filsdorf is in close proximity to several major towns such as Frisange or Remich, as well as near the French and German borders. The Remich Esplanade invites you to stroll the market every third Monday and participate in the monthly flea market. Mobility The bus stop "Filsdorf, Op der Plaz" is a 5-minute walk from the property and is served by bus lines 171, 180, 192, and 455. Line 171: Luxembourg – Dalheim – Filsdorf Line 180: Mondorf-les-Bains – Dalheim – Remich Line 192: Luxembourg – Hassel – Bous Line 455: Mondorf – Remich – Grevenmacher Lines 171 and 455 serve the high schools of Luxembourg and Grevenmacher during the school period. The nearest train and bus station, at Sandweiler-Contern, is a 15-minute drive and is served by CFL line 30 (Luxembourg – Wasserbillig – Trier). From there, Luxembourg Central Station can be reached in less than 10 minutes by train. Kirchberg in Luxembourg is only a 20-minute drive. The towns of Esch-Belval and Remich are 25 and 10 minutes away by car respectively. Schools Children from cycles 1 to 3 attend school on the Kierlingerstrooss site in Dalheim. There is also nursery and the "An den Wolleken" after-school care center. Cycle 4 is offered in the old school building in Dalheim. In the surroundings, there are several high schools in Luxembourg City and Grevenmacher, all served by public transport and therefore easily accessible.
